Q4 Who would be the audience for your media product

Every media product needs a target audience to it without it a product isn't going to do well at all especially in the case of a movie or tv show as no one will watch it.
It is important to take into consideration the likes, dislikes and desires of an audience as by following them the movie becomes more appealing to them.
In this case i researched multiple different films in which we used as inspiration for our one by doing this it gives me an audience in which my film would appeal most to or give us a complete range of audiences. Using IMDB to check reviews of multiple films it became apparent which audience our film is appealing to.
My thrillers target audience turned out to be Males of ages between the ages of 18-30+ and because of this can piece together a representation of a person who would watch the film.

Jim: Aged: 22
Jim is a movie addict who loves action and dark themed films, he likes mysterious and disorientating plots as well as being into movies that involve gangs. unlike many other people like Jim he doesn't like CGI heavy films and likes the movies he watches to be gritty.
The films Jim likes to watch need to have a plot in which is realistic and is continuously developed during the film. British gangster or Spy movies interest Jim thoroughly and draw him in. Jim likes to go to the cinema to watch a film yet also loves to watch from home via internet streaming sites as he can see a wider range of movies and stray away from blockbusters

Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?

Our Thriller Film would be gritty, dark and at some moments disturbing and because of this would need to be distributed by a company who has done these types of film before, one in which would offer the film to as many people as possible and as easily.
There are many giant conglomerates they are Paramount, 20th Century fox, Disney studios, Warner bros,Universal and Columbia pictures all of these are giant companies and can pretty much do anything they want to do with little to no issues.

However our film is targeted for a more European audience and because of this a smaller company would distribute this movie. A good movie studio that would distribute our film would be
Studio canal : Studio Canal mainly makes more British films although being located in France.
Studio canal creates and distributes many different genres of film and because of this can easily distribute films in every genre, from the Twilight Saga to the Shaun the Sheep movie they can produce anything and still make it popular. Our films is a British gangster film one in which has a dark story line in which would be at times disturbing and gory, a similar yet more comical approach to our film would be Attack the Block in which incorporates many British gangster stereotypes as well as being dark in its story.
Attack the Block was a very effective and got worldwide praise and taking into account its similarities our media product would be a good fit for Studio Canal to distribute.

Vertigo Pictures:
Vertigo pictures is a lesser known movie distributor, it alone distributes British movies ones such as the Pudsey Movie in which is typically known as a British brand so to say. This means means that this company would be perfect to distribute our film for it would be easy for them to do so and their movies generally get noticed at the box office.
They are not a well known company but the movies they release do get noticed somewhat when released and this is another reason why they are a good company to distribute our film.
Being a primarily British movie producer/distributor it would only really allow the movie to be released in Europe which wouldn't really get noticed overseas in the USA.

My thriller film is a dark, gritty and disorientating film one in which would appeal to Europeans rather than being appealing to a US audience in which means that this film would really only be released via a more lesser known company sucg as Vertigo pictures in which would allow the movie to be released to an audience in which would watch it. The thriller does incorporate many stylistic features such as the enigmas it would be somewhat more appealing to a European audience

How can new technologies offer new distribution opportunities?
New technologies such as Netfilx offer a huge variety of different films in which a paid subscription is the main cause of accessing them, Films in which are popular or are different are normally shown on this website. This subscription service is widely used around the world and allows many unique types of movies to be seen on one service and movies in which are lesser known and new to many audiences, this allows movies in which would have never have been seen otherwise to be seen easily and afford ably around the world

Q6 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Due to the Powerpoint not being able to embed properly i have resorted to screenshotting all slides

Q5 How did you attract/address your audience? (Prezi)

The Audience for our thriller was mid teens to young adults.
Our film is cold and gloomy in how it is composed and thus sets it apart from other more childlike movies that involve a lot of colour and upbeat story line, our thriller does not do that and is more darker.
Our thriller contains a complex and cold story line, one in which would interest people of an older age as it would portray the sense of anger and tension.

The audience for our thriller would identify that the events in which will eventually unfold will not be pretty but be gritty, savage and dark and they would realise this just after the opening has taken place.

Q2 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our Thriller portrays characters in many different ways.

Males: Males in our Thriller opening are portrayed as being very powerful people, wearing smart yet casual clothing to take control of people around them. Males are also portrayed as having darker intents forever on their minds in which causes them to be seen as more dangerous than Female characters.
Men are also seen to be a lot older than Female characters in which represents them as being more knowledgeable and harder to trick.
Our only Male character is represented as being a Russian agent or Gangster whom has very dark intentions much like the stereotypical Russian Gangster, whose only intent is to destroy his enemy. I think that our Russian character is almost mirroring a typical spy, we tried to challenge it by making him seem a little bit more casual and of a somewhat British gangster due to his trainers although it is still greatly implied that he is more of a Russian Gangster.

Females: Females in our project are portrayed as being British Gangsters much like the ones seen in movies like Essex Boys who are portrayed as being brutal but not being too smart we used this and made her look somewhat smart as she writes the note in the case to trick the Russian.
She however is seen to be a lot smaller than the Russian and this a bit more insignificant to the viewer, she is seen as weaker yet confident in her actions.

Our thriller represents criminality as an almost elaborate thing where no one wins and everyone is at a loss at the end of it. The Female character in our thriller is used to portray that the more English gangsters are new to this criminal activity and are therefore a little more skeptical while as the Russian is seen as confident and knows all outcomes and is prepared.

The Font used here is a modern, bold and jagged one portraying the expected font for a film in which is dark and gritty, which in turn causes the viewer to assume that this character or characters from within this movie have the same aura about them.

Binary opposition is used in this intro to relate to social issues between stereotypes and gender, the intro does this by portraying Women as being more sneaky yet are smaller and less significant than males. Males on the other hand are seen as more dangerous using an accent relatable to the Russian mafia when he speaks and walking with sincere confidence, as he is the only male seen as a main character his dominance is shown greatly as he gets a lot more screen time than the female,

Throughout the opening we don't know who these characters are and each one is an enigma because of this the characters are represented as being more dangerous and mysterious because of this.
We challenged the Enigma by using it very extensively making sure that no one at all know who these people are throughout the entirety of the intro, while in movies like Essex boys or Casino Royale we know at least some details upon who the characters are; such as name, title and what they do while in this nothing is explained at all.

Our Female character in the intro is meant to be a lot younger than the Russian who is the male, she is meant to represent an conflict between the two countries gang members, with the Russians being highly skilled and knowledgeable about "business" while the British gang members are a lot younger and therefore in reality don't know anything. The Stereotypical Russian is a lot more knowledgeable while the typical British thug/gang member is stupid in the eyes of the Russians.

Throughout there is a difference in the two characters class, with the British being seen as of a lower class to the Russian and we tried to represent this in their clothing. The male wears a suit, and carries an umbrella while the Brit carries the case and it looks out of place on her. This would also been seen when the Russian hands over the bag of money in a small paper bag, almost as if he was mocking her for being of a lower class.
