he Opening of Sin city starts off with a city like ambiance, the wind blowing constantly in which sets the scene as a dark, cold and gloomy night.

The narrator starts to speak with a calm monotone voice which overpowers the ambiance, and is spoken in past tense giving, the scene a darker more mysterious approach.
The entirety of the opening is in black and white, with the only colour other than black and white being the bright red dress the woman is wearing. creating a dull atmosphere.

the lighting is emitted from the house/building behind them and is the most prominent one throughout the scene, it establishes the theme of danger in the way that makes the outside feel and look dangerous and the inside is the only safe place

The numerous close ups of the face of the main character shows him in a self confined way, he keeps his goal inside at all times and establishes a theme of secrecy and cleverness.
