Q7 looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the final product?

looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the final product?

After completing the prelim task i have learnt over time a array of new techniques to improve how i go about completing multiple tasks, from there i have learnt to use them to portray a certain things such as claustrophobia or to create tension in a media extract

Camera work
My prelim task did not really have that many different shot types and it was lacking and upon viewing the final cut of it i realized that it would have been better if i was to include more.
After the prelim i have learnt that camera angles/types can cause a multitude of effects depending on how they are used, how they give power, how they can make something that was insignificant become a key factor in the filming. It also caused me to give reason behind why i shoot in a particular way, for example a low shot, in the prelim they were used because i could use it...but in the final thriller cut they are used to create power and disorientation in the scene.
In the time i have learnt that camera is one of the key elements in which tell the story, without a variety of shots everything looks bland and boring.

Research and planning/pre production
In the prelim task our planning was pretty dire, we chose a location because it looked good without any reason behind it and in the time since then i have learnt and understand that a location means a lot more, it needs to mean something everything needs to be carefully placed and chosen to give effects and the meaning behind it.
By choosing where the locations are going to be i have then understood that by planning where the camera is going to be placed makes the filming a lot easier and not so spur of the moment.

Production
Unlike our prelim we had complete control over the entire shot, we could do anything reasonable and as long as we did it purposely it wouldn't matter, this came with its drawbacks as we needed to show that we were capable of using a array of techniques...and during our prelim shoot we got given a criteria and we had to meet it but here we got complete control and therefore more room to explore new things and choose the best ones.

Post production EG: editing
Editing, was new and slapdash to me in the beginning i had no idea what i was doing but as long as everything looked good it was fine..of course it wasn't and the end products was a mess. The thriller opening gave me a huge amount of experimentation such as adding a soundtrack purposely to give effects and the like in which our prelim dint need. adding titles to things was new to me..adding them at the time did not seem so important to me but now after learning from my mistakes titles are now very important in the editing of films

Group work
During the prelim i was relatively new to the media class and hadn't a clue who anyone was but since then understandably i now know quite a few...and therefore during the filming of our prelim communication wasn't too great, however our thriller opening has seen a fair amount of communication between group members.
Thought the media filming its become apparent that group work and communication is key to working and resolving issues that may present themselves.

Noise.
Sounds it what makes a scene, in my prelim it was awful, multiple peoples voices being the prominent  one and our conversation had little meaning as well not many could hear it, this has been a focal point to me to get the sound right and although city noise being a trouble to get right unlike the prelim i want it to sound natural and clean. The thriller opening turned out the same with the sound being either too noisy or diddnt cut cleanly so i removed it and added other sounds in there place to make it seem a lot nicer.

Colour: During the prelim task colour didn't matter while with a thriller it does, in the time since i have learnt to use dulling or filming in rainy conditions to capture a multitude of colours to suit a specific genre.
